diggin’ in the crates “DJ BATTLE”
Date: To be Determined
Time: To be Determined
Location: To be Determined
The idea is to bring together DJs, vinyl collectors, crate-digging culture, and classic hip-hop, house, or soul music to create renewable music magic.
Diggin’ in the Crates will be 4 DJs vs. 4 DJs, a friendly team battle where eight DJs compete in front of the crowd. Each team gets equal opportunities to showcase music knowledge, mixing ability, creativity, transitions, crowd control, and their ability to pull unexpected classics from the crates.
The format would be 4 rounds, with each DJ representing their team once per round or rotating throughout the night:
Round 1 – Old School: Each team drops classic Hip-Hop and R&B tracks.
Round 2 – Dig Deep: DJs have to reach beyond the obvious hits and play forgotten gems, B-sides, remixes, or records that make the crowd say, “I forgot about that one!”
Round 3 – Genre Switch: Teams move through different genres—Funk, Soul, House, Reggae/Dancehall, Hip-Hop, R&B, etc.—showing versatility.
Final Round – No Holds Barred: Each team gets its best DJs and biggest records. Anything goes musically, and the goal is to take complete control of the room.
The battle will be judged through crowd reaction, a panel of judges, or a combination of both.
